It really is the most wonderful time of the year! This past Saturday was the highlight of our family, the Hardt family who started Hardt of Christmas just one year ago. After a year of raising awareness and collecting donations – both financial and hand-made or purchased decorations, we completed our first delivery of Christmas trees, lights and ornaments to 40 families.
We are so fortunate to have a partnership with the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) who paired us with such wonderful families and we got to meet them all at the center this weekend when they dropped in to pick up their tree and box of ornaments. We even had a wonderful and very outgoing young man who is a familiar face around AFAC join our group and help spread joy as he joined the Hardt boys to distribute the trees and ornaments.
The experience was unforgettable, particularly for the Hardt Boys who go to see firsthand their work from the year come to life. In addition to delivery day, we were so fortunate to have support from the local community and across the country through both our Gofundme campaign where we hit our financial target and through a few wonderful groups gathering to decorate and donate handmade ornaments which really added a personal and unique touch to the items families received.
Thank you to all our supporters, families at Taylor Elementary School in Arlington and to the Arlington Food Assistance Center. You all played a significant role in making several families very happy this holiday season. Looking forward to many more years of bringing joy to families at Christmas time.
